1 1/2 cups brown sugar
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup shortening
3 eggs
1/2 cup molasses
2 3/4 cups flour
1 cup raisins
1 tsp. baking soda
1 tsp. cloves
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. allspice
1/2 tsp. salt
Cream butter and sugar together. Add eggs, one at a time, beating well after each addition.1/2 cup white sugar

Stir in molasses. Sift dry ingredients together and gradually add to mixture. Add raisins. Combine well.
Drop by teaspoonfuls onto a greased cookie sheet. Alternatively, spread in a brownie pan if bars are desired.
Bake at 350°F for 30-35 minutes.
